The battle of the pumpkins at the Cincinnati Zoo

Der Kampf der Kürbisse im Zoo von Cincinnati 

Berit usually gets her way, and that goes for pumpkin time too

During the month of October, the Cincinnati Zoo presents pumpkins to the polar bears every Saturday and Sunday. Berit and Little One enjoy their Halloween treat.

Im Laufe des Monats Oktober präsentiert der Zoo von Cincinnati Kürbisse für die Eisbären jeden Samstag und Sonntag. Berit und Little One genießen ihre Halloween-Leckerbissen.

This is mine, says Berit

 There were two pumpkins, one for each bear. Little One was asleep, so Berit consumed most of the first pumpkin. Then Little One woke up, and said "I want some too!"

Es gab zwei Kürbisse, eine für jeden Bären. Lil' One war ein wenig eingeschlafen, so konnte Berit das Meisten des ersten Kürbis verspeisen. Dann wachte Little One auf und sagte: "Ich möchte auch etwas abhaben!"

He circles around

The slow approach. Can I have some too?

No, Berit grabs the pumpkin and runs off with it

He follows her and begs nicely. Please?

Little one whispers words of affection to Berit

Will she share?

Little One tries to persuade Berit to share her pumpkin

But no, she runs off with the Pumpkin again. 

She throws the pumkin into the water and gets it out again.

It's my Pumpkin, says Berit

Please? Pretty Please, says Little One

Just a few bites, please?

Well, okay, says Berit, who is full of pumpkin

Thanks, says Little One

Finally, Berit lets Little One have the leftovers.

And Berit runs off with the pumpkin lid

Berit finds the second pumpkin and takes it into the swimming area

The children in the Halloween costumes love to watch the pumpkin party

 

Berit has her second pumpkin all to herself.

 Berit and Little One will enjoy pumpkins again next weekend. Maybe she will share, and maybe she won't.

Berit und Little One werden mehr Kürbisse wieder am nächsten Wochenende genießen. Vielleicht wird Berit dann mit Little One teilen, aber vielleicht auch nicht.
