Twins for Giovanna at Tierpark Hellabrunn

Europe has its first polar bear cubs of the season. Seven year old Giovanna of Tierpark Hellabrunn In Munich, Germany gave birth to twins on December 9.

Europa hat seine ersten Eisbärenkinder der Saison. Sieben Jahre alt Giovanna von Tierpark Hellabrunn in München, Deutschland, warf Zwillinge am 9. Dezember.

This is the third winter Giovanna has denned up, in expectation of cubs, and finally she has the babies.

Dies ist der dritte Winter, den Giovanna in der Höhle verbrachte, in Erwartung von Jungen, und schließlich hat sie die Babys geboren.

There are cameras in the den and the birth was filmed in color, although we have only seen a single photo so far.

Giovanna, sometimes called the Italian Beauty, is well known as the childhood playmate of the late Knut in the Berlin Zoo. She and Yoghi had moved to Berlin during the construction of the beautiful new polar bear habitat in Munich. While in Berlin, Giovanna lived and played with Knut during those happy times.

Giovanna, manchmal auch als die italienische Schönheit bezeichnet, war in der Kindheit Spielgefährtin des verstorbenen Knut im Berliner Zoo. Sie und Yoghi war während des Umbaus der schönen neuen Eisbärenanlage von München nach Berlin gezogen. Während des Aufenthalts in Berlin, lebte und spielte Giovanna mit Knut in jenen glücklichen Zeiten.

The big swimming and diving pool

Tierpark Hellabrunn in Munich has the finest polar bear enclosure I have seen. It has three separate areas, one with a big swimming and diving pool, a center area, and finally a natural grassy Tundra and Taiga area with a little river to play in. The visitors are separated from the bears by glass in all three areas. The bears are given many wonderful toys to play with. This new enclosure was finished in the summer of 2010 and cost 5.2 million Euros. It is 2800 square meters and triples the living space for the polar bears.

Der Tierpark Hellabrunn hat das besten Eisbärengehege,das ich gesehen habe. Es verfügt über drei separate Bereiche, einer mit einem großen Schwimm-und Tauchbecken, einem mittleren Bereich, und schließlich einer natürlichen grasbewachsenen Tundra und Taiga -Bereich mit einem kleinen Fluss zum spielen in. Die Besucher werden von den Bären durch Glas in allen drei Bereichen getrennt. Die Bären wird viel wunderbares Spielzeug zum Spielen gegeben. Diese neue Anlage wurde im Sommer 2010 fertig und kostete 5,2 Millionen Euro. Es ist 2800 Quadratmeter groß und verdreifacht den Lebensraum für die Eisbären.

The new enclosure has two birthing dens and a mother-cub area. The good news for Yoghi is that even though he can't be with Giovanna, he will still have room to play and have fun in another part of the enclosure.

Das neue Eisbärenhaus hat zwei Geburtshöhlen und einen Mutter - Jungtier -Bereich. Die gute Nachricht für Yoghi ist , dass, obwohl er nicht mit Giovanna zusammen sein kann , wird er dennoch mehr Platz haben, in einem anderen Teil der Anlage zu spielen und Spaß zu haben.

I visited Tierpark Hellabrunn in the summer of 2011. I could see that Yoghi and Giovanna have a wonderful friendship, and like to play with each other. It is probably hard for Yoghi to be separated from his lovely lady.

Ich besuchte Tierpark Hellabrunn im Sommer 2011. Ich konnte sehen, dass Yoghi und Giovanna eine wunderbare Freundschaft haben und gerne miteinander spielen. Es ist wohl schwer für Yoghi von seiner reizenden Dame getrennt zu werden.

Giovanna was born November 28, 2006 in Fasano Italy, the daughter of Marissa and the Italian Felix. She is the sister of Noel of the Copenhagen Zoo and also sister of Dea and another cub born in 2012.

Giovanna wurde 28. November 2006 in Fasano Italien, der Tochter von Marissa und dem italienischen Felix geboren. Sie ist die Schwester von Noel vom Kopenhagener Zoo und auch die Schwester von Dea und einem weiteren Jungtier im Jahr 2012 geboren.

Thirteen year old Yoghi was born November 29, 2000 in Pistoia Zoo in Tuscany, Italy, which no longer has any polar bears. Yoghi's late father Romeo was born in the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, USA in 1978. There were some inbreeding problems at Pistoia, as Yoghi's father is also the father of Yoghi's mother Bimba. And Yoghi's son Blizzard was born to Yoghi's mother Bimba. Blizzard has a very narrow family tree, with only one grandfather. Even with the inbreeding, Yoghi and Blizzard are both healthy, gentle, goodnatured bears.

Der dreizehn Jahre alte Yoghi wurde 29. November 2000 in Pistoia Zoo in der Toskana, Italien,geboren, der Zoo hält nun keine Eisbären mehr. Verstorbenen Vater Yoghi Romeo wurde in der Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, USA im Jahr 1978 geboren. Es gab einige Probleme in Inzucht Pistoia, wie Yoghi Vater ist auch der Vater von Yoghi Mutter Bimba. Und Yoghi Sohn Blizzard wurde Yoghi Mutter Bimba geboren. Blizzard hat eine sehr schmalen Stammbaum, mit nur einem Großvater. Auch mit der Inzucht, Yoghi und Blizzard sind beide gesunde, sanfet, gutmütige Bären.

Giovanna is known to be more adventurous, and the zoo sometimes calls her a “daredevil.”

These are risky days for the babies, and hopefully, all will go well and we have two little ones to watch grow up in Munich.

The park may be closed for the winter, but you can still watch Ilka and her unnamed Twins play at the Skandinavisk Dyrepark in Kolind, Denmark.

The two cubs were born November 21, 2012, so they are now one year old. We don't know for sure, but I think they are a girl and a boy.

Die beiden jungen Eisbären wurden am 21. November 2012 geboren, so dass sie jetzt ein Jahr alt sind. Wir wissen es nicht noch genau, aber ich denke, sie sind ein Mädchen und ein Junge.

The cubs are the younger brother and sister of 2 year old Siku, who was taken away from mother Ilka when the mother failed to produce milk. This time, Ilka was given hormones to help her produce milk, and it worked! Ilka has been able to be a mother to these two.

Die Jungen sind der jüngere Bruder und Schwester von 2 Jahre alten Siku, der von der Mutter Ilka weggenommen werden mußte, da die Mutter nicht fähig war, Milch zu produzieren. Diesmal wurden Ilka Hormone verabreicht um ihr zu helfen Milch zu produzieren, und es funktionierte! Ilka konnte die beiden Eisbärjungen wie eine Mutter versorgen.

Siku lives at the park with an older lady bear, Smilla, and they make nice companions.

Siku lebt im Park mit einer älteren Dame Bär, Smilla, und sie kommen gut miteinander aus.

Currently there are nine bears at the Skandinavisk Dyrepark, including two visitors, Milak and Malik from Aalborg Zoo. The visiting ladies are returning to Aalborg Zoo in December, when the repairs to their enclosure are complete. The other bears are the cubs' father Nanook, and Ilka's brother Nuuk.

Derzeit gibt es neun Bären im Skandinavisk Dyrepark, darunter zwei Besucher, Milak und Malik aus Aalborg Zoo. Die Damen sind zu Besuch, zurück in den Aalborg Zoo geht es wieder im Dezember, wenn die Reparaturen an ihrem Gehege vollständig sind. Die anderen Bären sind die Zwillinge's Vater Nanook und Ilka Bruder Nuuk.

The park is spacious, with many ponds, grassy fields, and a river. These bears have only natural toys, like sticks, to play with.

Der Park ist geräumig, mit vielen Teichen, Rasenflächen und einem Fluss. Diese Bären haben nur natürlich Spielzeug, wie Stöcke, um damit zu spielen.

Cute as can be 

 During tourist season, the visitors enjoy watching feeding time. Ilka and the twins line up and sit politely while waiting for their snacks. They also enjoy apples and other food items thrown into the water.

In der touristischen Saison genießen die Besucher beobachten die moderierten Fütterung. Ilka und die Zwillinge sitzen dann nebeneinander und sind höflich beim Warten auf ihre Snacks. Sie genießen auch Äpfel und andere Lebensmittel, die ins Wasser geworfen werden.

The park is also home to four devilish Brown Bear cubs and their mom.

Park Director Frank Vigh-Larsen, who raised Siku and supervises the park, has been named Everyday Hero in the animal lover category for the Animal Protection League in Denmark. Congratulations! Here he is in his little cart, seeing to the needs of the animals. 

Park-Direktor Frank Vigh-Larsen, der Siku von Hand aufzog und den Park leitet und überwacht, wurde in der Tierfreund Kategorie für die Tierschutzliga in Dänemark zum "Helden des Tages" ernannt. Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Hier ist er in seinem kleinen Wagen, auf die Bedürfnisse der Tiere im Park zu achten.

Malik and Milak on holiday at Skandinavisk Dyrepark

Ilka's twins will be one year old on November 21.

Skandinavisk Dyrepark in Kolind Denmark has become a vacation wonderland for two bears from the Aalborg Zoo, while repairs are being done at their home. This bring the total number of bears in Kolind to nine, but the bears are in seclusion, for the park is closed for the season.

Skandinavisk Dyrepark in Kolind Dänemark ist zur Zeit ein Urlaub Wunderland für zwei Eisbären aus dem Zoo von Aalborg, während dort Reparaturen an ihrem Gehege durchgeführt werden. Somit bringet der Tierpark in Kolind es auf die die Gesamtzahl neun Eisbären, aber die Aalborg Eisbären sind in einem abgeschiedenen Bereich, denn der Park ist für die schon Saison geschlossen.

Enjoying a month of peace and quiet in Kolind are Malik who is almost 13 years old, and Milak, who will be five next month. The visiting ladies are especially enjoying the grass, since their home in Aalborg in mainly rocks.

Sie genießen einen Monat der Ruhe und Stille in Kolind. Malik, die fast 13 Jahre alt ist, und Milak, die fünf Jahre im nächsten Monat sein wird. Die besuchten Damen sind besonders am Gras interessiert, da ihre Anlage in Aalborg aus Felssteinen und Kiesel mit Sandboden besteht.

The visitors will be going back home in December. Victoria was left behind at the Aalborg Zoo, but she is kept behind scenes while the work is being done.

Die Gasteisbären kommen wieder nach Hause im Dezember. Milak Mutter, Victoria, wurde im Aalborg Zoo belassen, aber sie befindet sich hinter den Kulissen gehalten, während die Arbeit getan wird. Nur Samstag und Sonntag kann man Victoria dann kurz via Web Cam beobachten-ober auch dort im Zoo in Aalborg.

Among the residents of Skandinavisk Dyrepark are Ilka and her twins, who can be seen on webcam every day, even when the park is closed.

Unter den Bewohnern vom Skandinavisk Dyrepark sind Ilka und ihre Zwillinge, die vor der Webcam zu sehen sind- jeden Tag, auch wenn der Park geschlossen ist.

Elderly Smilla (closer) and cub Siku (far) live together now  at Skandinavisk Dyrepark. Siku will be 2 years old on November 22.

Ilka's son Siku also lives at the park with his elderly friend Lady Smilla, and he has his own webcam.

This past summer, the big attraction at Skandinavisk Dyrepark was Ilka's twins. Although there is no official word, I think one is a girl and one is a boy.

Im vergangenen Sommer war die große Attraktion bei Skandinavisk Dyrepark Ilka 's Zwillinge. Zwar gibt es noch keine offizielle Meldung, ich denke, das eines ein Mädchen ist, das andere ist ein Junge.

During feeding time, they line up and wait politely for their food. During the day, they swim, nap, play, and chase each other.

Während der Fütterung sitzen sie brav nebeneinander und warten höflich für ihr Fressen. Tagsüber schwimmen sie, raufen, spielen und jagen einander.

Siku and the twins are the great grandchildren of Olga and Bruno of the Memphis Zoo. Their aunt is Agee, the famous acting bear who is seen in movies and TV commercials.

Siku und die Zwillinge sind die Urenkel von Olga und Bruno auss dem Memphis Zoo. Ihre Tante ist Agee, die berühmte Schauspieler Eis bärin, die in Filmen und TV-Spots zu sehen ist.

Skandinavisk Dyrepark gives the bears a lot of space and lovely ponds and rivers to swim. These bears have only natural toys, like sticks, to play with. Malik and Milak are used to have many fun toys at Aalborg Zoo, but they will enjoy the change of scene at their vacation home.

Skandinavisk Dyrepark gibt den Eisbären viel Platz und schöne Teichen und Flüssen zum schwimmen. Diese Eisbären haben nur natürlich Spielzeug, wie Stöcke, um damit zu spielen. Malik und Milak sind im Aalborg Zoo anderes Beschäftigungsmaterial gewohnt, aber sie werden die Änderung der Szeneie ihres Urlaub von zu Hause genießen.

The visiting bears cannot usualy be seen on webcam at Skandinavisk Dyrepark but here is a video of the ladies enjoying the grass. When they return to Aalborg Zoo, they will once again be stars on their own webcam.
